my newest fave song of the moment.
"You Don't Know Me" by Ben Folds featuring Regina Spektor
again! It's been a while since I scrapped anything for the sake of scrapping save one or 2 layouts over the last 6 months...seems all my scrapping was becoming deadlines and stuff I needed to do. This weekend I fully broke out of that! I woke up at 3am Saturday morning and made a beeline for the laptop and just kept going all morning, noon and night...I have loads of stuff done and still loads more in the pipeline.
Here's a taste of what I have finished and posted. Yes! Can you believe I actually posted stuff too! LOL

And, a couple weeks ago I went nuts with the non-digi for the Kenner Road team...here's what I submitted. The project in the upper left of my Finley got a shout out on the Sassafras Lass blog! Take that paper peeps! LOL
There was a delay at Digital Artist Magazine on the release date & new site launch is scheduled for some time today....there was a kink in the system and in an effort to keep things running smooth it was better to hold off for another couple of days until and so sometime today is the day!
Keep calm my friends, good things come to those who wait.
and Kenner Road goes live. Was just strolling the aisles of the "marketplace" and am drooling over the delicious vintage tidbits that will be available. Also, I know some of you were asking about the pre-sale kits that had sold out...the answer is "yes", if you missed out on the pre-sale you *will* be able to purchase those same kits/add-on kits...provided they don't sell out, AGAIN! :)
One last little sneak of a project:
And a sneak of a simple layout about my childhood memories....the theme may not be what any of you are probably expecting to see but, alas, it is the memory.
Don't you love that 70's gear and decor??? :D
Another sneaky peek of the goodness to be available at Kenner Road...but here's the really good part! The site will go live TOMORROW rather than Monday! Woo hoo!!!! The response has been so overwhelming that the site will be going live a day early!
Sandwiched into the sneak you get a glimpse of good things to come in your Kenner Road subscription kit...goodness like: Jenni Bowlin, Scenic Route, Sassafras Lass & some leftover lace I had laying around.
Dina was inspired to put together this mosaic:
Keep the memory lane stories/photos coming, they are all so interesting and inspiring! Such a great way to get to know people.
Just a little sneak peek of a project I made using the September '08 "Vintage Revival" Add-On project kit from soon to be unveiled Kenner Road.
In celebration of the Kenner Road grand opening on September 15th I'll be giving away this sweet Scenic Route designer collection kit. The "Laurel Kit" contains 15 double-sided papers, 3 single-sided kraft papers and 2 sticker packs.
It's a piece of cake to win. All you need to do to get in the running is to blog about the street you grew up on or blog post a photo of a vintage item in your home, a baby pic or family heirloom. Your post must say you "want to win a prize from Kenner Road". Be sure to link me up here in the comments section or e-mail me a link to your blog entry. There will be other giveaways today and throughout the weekend on the blogs of my Kenner Road teammates: Ker, Gigi, Ames, Dina.
Some of you may know that the pre-sale subscriptions for Kenner Road had sold out back in August but, come this Monday, you'll be able to get in on the action if you missed out on the pre-sale. Can't wait until Monday when we can all browse and buy vintage inspired scrapbook kits, ephmera & digital elements.
Here's to Celeste Smith for snagging the first Guest Designer spot at Kenner Road. For those of you that know Celeste she clearly needs no introduction....and for those of you that think you don't know her but read scrapping magazines, well, then you already are familiar with her and her killer work. Celeste is a scrapping powerhouse who can blast out the layouts like nobody's business! Creative, quick, and funny as can be...I just love this girl!
Just a few sneaks of Celeste's Kenner Road projects for September:
Yesterday morning my boss saw this little lady wandering down the street from our office...the intersection happens to be that of the block I work on and a highway! When he came in, he said there was a "little cat in the middle of the road" down the block, which, unfortunately, comes as no surprise as there is a feral cat colony/problem in the neighborhood. Immediately, I got up from my desk asking "was it hit by a car?", "does it appear injured?", "are you sure it wasn't injured and that's what it's staying in the traffic?".
Running down the street I spot this tiny little ball of fur on the ledge of a window, she was literally hanging by her claws on chicken wire, the wire was covering the glass of the corner building's basement window...thank heavens she made it to that side of the building and was able to get on that ledge until I got there. As you can see in the photo, her right eye appears totally obliterated and her left eye isn't in the greatest shape...she also had a terrible upper respiratory infection. Normally I keep a Rubbermaid container in my car filled with supplies for capturing/aiding loose dogs and such but, murphy's law, of course, I didn't have it with me. With a jacket from the trunk of my car I carefully swaddled this little peanut and gently picked her up...it was a little bit of a struggle to get her "un-clawed" from the chicken wire but eventually she let go. As I walked back to the office she gave out...I thought I lost her....she must have been so exhausted from the trauma of the traffic and the struggle to find her way to safety...to my relief she was breathing. Poor little baby hadn't known a kind soul until that moment....all I could do was to keep soothing her and tell her to hang on, she would be OK if she could just hang in there a bit longer.
Once back at the office I set her up in the warehouse by placing my jackect in some milk crates as a makeshift pet crate and gave her some water which she drank right away. This was the best that could be done until Animal Control could get there....while in her "crate" she began meowing and then got some much needed rest.
At this point I was feeling like she needed to come home with me, she needed me to nurse her back to health and give her a home with us. The giving her a home thing is big news because I am *not*, I repeat, am not a cat person, not at all. All these thoughts were running thru my head about how could I make this work out...things like:
Then the reality of animal rescue came back to me...Clawdia is not meant to live with us & that is the best decision for her. So, I sat with her and talked to her telling her she would be OK and that someone out there will love her and provide the safety & medical care she needs.
Just before I handed her over I told her to keep fighting and clawing (just not with other cats or people! LOL)...it was her ability to claw her way to safety that spared her little life.
"Keep Going. You always keep going." little Clawdia.
Godspeed my friend.
This post should serve as a reminder to donate to your local animal shelter/rescue. Whether it be a few dollars, some bottles of bleach, old blankets and towels, a few bags of dog/cat food, treats, toys, leashes or, most importantly, a few hours of your time, it is desperately needed to help these poor animals that are cast aside as if they are trash. They are not trash; they are living creatures placed here on this Earth for a reason and should be treated with the kindness, respect and love they so deserve & are entitled to. Won't you please take this moment to do what you can to help those in need...believe me when I tell you *every little bit* helps.
In the great words of Mahatma Gandhi...
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
as will Dime Store Daze.
This weekend I have 2 uber cool and super vintage-y women to talk about.
Most of you are probably familiar with my dear friend Kerry Lynn. You may know her by "KL" - I call her "Ker", but, either way, she is who she is and so ROCKS. The girl has an eye for pulling together the most interesting and delicious mix of vintage goodies (papers, fabrics, ephemera, trims, bling...you name it) and create to die for projects. And, now she is going to share her talent for this with all of us! What with her workshop classes continually selling out & the popularity of her limited edition kits at her Etsy shoppe (K8tyKat), the time has come for Ker to share her talent with the masses...enter Kenner Road.
Kenner Road is a subscription based kit club. Pre-Sale subscriptions for the first Kenner Road release went live yesterday, August 15th, and are already SOLD OUT! Ouch, that's not hot...that's on "Fi-Yah!" Fear not though my friends....if you missed out on the pre-sale you will still have the opportunity to snag the September release on September 15th...it'll cost you a few more clams to get your pretty little glittered and glued hands on it but it's worth it....one more reason to sign up for the subscription is that you can save about $5 per kit which means one more Starbucks for you!
Now, in addition to these vintage delights, Ker is also launching a line of digital goodies so if you are a digi-scrapper, a paper crafter/altered art/mixed media/scrapper looking to get into a little digi, or full on hybrid, now is your chance to do it in style!
Keep checking back for the Kenner Road site launch as well as the availability of new subscriptions and the rest of the project kits & goodies that will be waiting to land in your mailbox!
Be sure to look for Kenner Road layouts in the September issue of Digital Artist Magazine!
